Part One
Obviously, you can’t have Fairy Tale without fairy tales. The research of the tales was…interesting. The originals sure ain’t how Disney did it. I hung out almost exclusively in the Grimm Brothers’ tales…mostly since theirs are the most familiar and are easily accessible.
Briar Rose
The Forty Thieves
The Gingerbread Man
The Golden Bird
The Goose Girl
Mother Holle
The Old Woman in the Woods
Rapunzel
Rumpelstiltskin
The Three Bears
The Three Billy Goats Gruff
ALSO! There is one last tale mentioned near the end of the book that is not listed here. Gabby says of this tale, “I had never heard the tale to remember it.”
It is actually a very well-known tale, (you know it) but its original isn’t AT ALL what we’re familiar with. Can you guess what it is?
Fun Facts
Saramine’s tea is actually chai. I once had the honor sitting and watching the process done by a fellow from Iran, and I felt the same way Gabby felt about spices being added to the tea. Black pepper was probably the most surprising. But its now one of my favorite kinds of tea!
